The Islanders play the team’s first outdoor game, taking on the New York Rangers at Yankee Stadium in the 2014 Stadium Series. Brock Nelson scores the lone Islanders goal in a 2-1 loss.

2014-15 season

first last season at coli

The Islanders go 47-28-7 in the team’s first “last season” at Nassau Coliseum. The season begins with the trades for Johnny Boychuk and Nick Leddy and ends with a heartbreaking loss to the Washington Capitals in Game Seven of their First Round series. The season is a celebration of the Coliseum, though the final chapter is ultimately yet to be written.

  • Founded in 1992 by former champion lacrosse player David Morrow, Warrior specializes in high-performance footwear and apparel for lacrosse and hockey players. The brand was acquired by New Balance in 2004 and then by Boston’s Brine Sporting Goods in 2007.

The Islanders pick up their first regular season win in Brooklyn, beating the Winnipeg Jets 4-2 at Barclays Center. John Tavares scores the first game-winner in Brooklyn, while Thomas Greiss makes 22 saves in the win.

isles win first playoff series since 1993

The Islanders win their first playoff series in 23 years, beating the Florida Panthers in six games. The Isles win Game Six 2-1 in thrilling fashion, as John Tavares scores the tying goal in the final minute of the third period before scoring the series-clincher at 10:41 of the second overtime.

The return to the coliseum

The Islanders play their first regular season game on Long Island in three and a half years, beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 at Nassau Coliseum. The Isles rally out of an 0-2 hole for a comeback win, with Casey Cizikas netting the game-winner in the third period.

islanders sweep penguins

The Islanders sweep the Pittsburgh Penguins in four games, the team’s first sweep since 1983. The Islanders hold the Penguins to six goals in the entire series. Brendan Burke’s “Game One to the Island!” call punctuates Josh Bailey’s overtime winner in the series opener.
